Bellevue City Hall, Room 1E-112
This coming Wednesday, the Meydenbauer Bay Park artists will bring in their concepts for art works in Phase 1 of the park. Mary Pat Byrne, City of Bellevue Arts Specialist, had the opportunity to preview the concepts; you will see many ideas for beautiful work related to the park’s natural environment and its history.
THE ASSIGNMENT
For this step, the artists were asked to come up with at least 2 alternative ideas for their respective assigned areas: the Ravine and overlooks, the Promenade and Pier, and the Beach House.
WHAT YOU’LL SEE
Each working in his and her own way, they have developed themes and preliminary images of what the art would look like including materials and size. In public art projects it’s typical that projects will evolve as they develop, but the concepts will show you the direction the art will take.
WHAT YOU’LL BE ASKED
For each artist, you’ll be asked to comment on each alternative. The City’s art selection panel will be at the meeting, joining in the discussion. At the end of the discussion, the panel will be asked to take in to account your comments and the goals of the project and vote on which direction each artist will take. Your voice is critical at this important step!
