Phase 1 of the new Meydenbauer Bay Park is proceeding on schedule for completion in the Fall of 2018. The two houses on 99th Ave. have been removed, and grading of the park is underway. The topography of the completed park is beginning to emerge.
Waterfront Construction, Inc. (tel. 206-786-6464) is IMCO’s subcontractor building the curved floating pier. The concrete floats for the pier are being made in Bellingham and will be trucked to a yard in Ballard. The floats will be launched into the canal and towed to Meydenbauer Bay.
When completed, the 400 foot-long curved pier will extend no further into the Bay than the existing City Marina docks. Waterfront Construction will bring in a 145′ x 50′ crane barge to demolish the two old private docks at either end of the park. Next they will construct the ramp leading to the pier and drive the metal pilings to anchor the pier. The fish window for doing work in the water is open until September 30, 2017.
