Do you own waterfront property on Meydenbauer Bay?

The Meydenbauer Bay Neighbors Association (MBNA) is now organizing its 2026 aquatic weed
treatment program for shoreline homeowners.

For more than 20 years, MBNA has coordinated a treatment program to treat invasive aquatic
weeds under a permit from the Washington State Department of Ecology. This permit allows us to
retain a licensed aquatic plant management firm to treat milfoil and other invasive weeds in
designated areas of the Bay using herbicides allowed by the Dept. of Ecology.

The Meydenbauer Bay Yacht Club, the City of Bellevue, and two nearby condominium properties
maintain separate permits and treat adjacent areas of the Bay at the same time.
2025 results and 2026 plan

In June 2025, MBNA engaged AquaTechnex to treat Eurasian milfoil using a targeted, systemic
herbicide (ProcellaCOR). A follow-up treatment using herbicides to treat invasive aquatic weeds
such as Brazilian elodea, pond weeds, water lilies, etc. was done after July 15th, within the approved
application window for fish-sensitive periods.

Since the ProcellaCOR treatment last year was eƯective, and milfoil presence is expected to be
minimal this year, MBNA is oƯering only the follow-up treatment from last year to be done after July
15th of this year. The herbicides used are not harmful to people or pets, and AquaTechnex will post
signs in the aƯected areas that will describe any water use restrictions or advisories.
Participation and cost

MBNA is oƯering the following treatment to individual shoreline homeowners.
 Estimated cost: ~$250 to $300 per property (final cost depends on participation levels)
 Coverage: Treatment of invasive aquatic weeds along your shoreline area
 No separate permitting is required for participating homeowners under the MBNA program
