Bellevue is nearing completion of the Meydenbauer Bay Park project. Here’s a brief recap from Scott Vander Hyden, Project Manager, of construction progress:
The following items are complete:
- The park’s main 20-foot wide pedestrian promenade and all other concrete pathways
- The play area
- All in-water work and shoreline restoration work
The final two public art pieces will be installed by mid-January. The beach house is finished with the exception of a few minor items, and inspections are now underway.
Landscaping improvements are progressing smoothly. Plantings and sod installation will be done by the end of year, with mulching and final landscape detailing to continue into the new year.
Remodeling of the Whaling Building is ongoing and is expected to be complete by the end of January.
The City is on pace to complete most work by the end of the year as planned, with a few remaining guard railings and hand railing, parking lot striping and final clean-up extending into 2019.
The City will open the park in early 2019 when all of the final touches are complete and permits are closed. Scott thanks you for your continued patience. Please feel free to contact Scott (425-452-4169 [email protected]) with questions or concerns.
