On Friday Dec. 11, at about 6pm, a pack of at least 3 coyotes were seen trotting down Meydenbauer Way SE outside the Meydenbauer Bay Yacht Club. Further reporting and discussion with neighbors has brought to light more sightings in the neighborhood. In my extensive experience in this part of Bellevue I have never seen this many together so publicly trotting down the middle of a paved street. It is likely that the oversupply of rabbits we have experienced over the last several years has finally come to the attention of the coyote community. We have no reports of any attacks on humans, however, residents out for walks, and especially those walking small dogs or with young children should be alert for coyotes. Coyote sightings can be reported to [email protected] or call (425) 775-1311. Only call 911 in an emergency to report coyote attacks on humans or pets.
Happy Holidays
